From the Idaho Board of Nursing regarding 2023 license renewal and CE requirements

Posted 12 months ago by Randall Hudspeth

The nursing associations are receiving questions about the CE requirements for 2023 license renewals for RNs and APRNs.  If you have specific questions, please direct them to the Board of Nursing office.  In speaking with BON staff today they offered this communication language to share with nurses.

For APRNs (Nurse Practitioners) national certification is still required and maintaining the national certification does require either retesting or meeting CE requirements that include pharmacology CE and practice hours.  Because of this requirement, the Idaho BON could eliminate the APRN CE requirement because it was deemed duplicative and an unnecessary burden to the APRN.

From the BON...

** Please note ** Due to legislative changes our new rules no longer require CEU/CCR’s for renewals. Please be advised, we were not able to update our system quick enough and this will still reflect in the renewal application. You have the ability to either mark yes or no within the application. If you choose to mark no, there will be a follow up email notification indicating this was not a requirement for renewal this year. If you wish to review our new rules, please see the link below:
