This announcement has 1 attachment:

This notice is intended to inform Idaho licensed APRNs about the required checking of the PDMP before prescribing a controlled substance.  The Board of Nursing has asked NPI to facilitate this process in addition to the direct communications that they have with the prescribers.

On behalf of the Idaho Division of Occupational and Professional Licenses Health Professions Bureau Chief, Dr. Nicki Chopski, please review the attached letter.  It has been sent to controlled substance registrants in Idaho.  The Board of Nursing is notifying them that the period for enforcement discretion will end March 31, 2023.   Those prescribers not checking the PDMP prior to prescribing an opioid analgesic or benzodiazepine in accordance with Idaho Code 37-2722 are in violation of the law and subject to disciplinary action.

Please refer any questions to the Idaho Board of Nursing.
